High electric discharges generate ionized gas that can modify the surface properties they are in contact with. Plasma treatments have been used for years for enhancing wetting behaviour and adhesion characteristics of plastics. The DURAWOOD project optimizes a new plasma-based tool to improve varnish adhesion and the durability of exterior coated-wood systems.
