Second demonstration session for the DURAWOOD

The second demonstration session for the DURAWOOD project was held in the company SETA in Ruzomberock, Slovakia on September 9, 2011. Attendees from the wood and coatings sectors acknowledged the interest of the information provided and the assets of the new plasma technology. Furthermore, the DURAWOOD prototype machine built at IRIS was demonstrated and the effect of the surface treatment the wettability of various wood samples was shown. The consortium wish to thank once more the participants for their feedback as well as Prof. Smollar for his valuable review of wood coatings.

DURAWOOD Month 15 Technical Meeting
The Month 15 Technical Meeting was hosted by RTD partner TTZ in Bremerhaven on the 17 February, 2011. The meeting involved the review of progress to date and the planned future work for DURAWOOD. All attending partners took part in a tour of the TTZ facilities and viewed a demonstration of DURAWOOD treated wood samples in terms of fungi resistance.
Durawood Demonstration Session
A demonstration of the DURAWOOD treatment process will be held in Murcia on 31st May. The session will include an introduction to the DURAWOOD project, plasma treatment and its effects and uses when treating fungi growth in wood. This will be followed by a full demonstration and a discussion session to conclude the day’s events.

9 Months Technical Meeting
The 9 Months Technical Meeting was hosted by IRIS in Castelldefels, Spain, on August 3rd and 4th 2010. The RTD performers reviewed the good progresses so far in the development of the new plasma unit for wood treatment, as well as in the characterization of the wood decay fungi and discussed the first designs of the prototype.
